UKTripper

Since 1998 I have run a number of websites that revolve around UK attractions that reflect my interest in visiting places, photography and more recently, filming. Before the creation of the internet and mobile communications I longed for some means of connecting with others needing ideas for days out. When the internet arrived and I realised you could access a database through a web browser, I began to teach myself the basics of web design and scripting, until I was able to eventually publish my own uk attractions website. The site has gone through numerous changes and different domain names over the years, with the current one being UKTripper, where you'll find a wide range of Ideas for Days Out, photography and some videos. Coverage is more concentrated around the Midlands area, where I live, with individual attractions contributing their own info and photos in other areas of the country.

Any attraction not featured in the website or lacking a detailed description is welcome to provide their details and photos, which I am happy to include for free. Visit the contact page if you'd like to be featured.

What Happened to the Business Directories?

Sadly, after 15 years of running my 2 business directories: Now2Business and Small Business Finder, I decided to close them (on 18/02/2013) due to external factors created by Google. This search engine has made no secret of its' negative attitude towards directories, and recent changes to its' algorithms have lead many website owners and SEO's to suspect that directory listings, when comprising a large proportion of their backlink catalogue, are having some negative impact on their Google SERP's.

The owner's of several listings have already approached me to remove their links, although none of them suggested the directory had been the cause of any problems, they were removing all their directory backlinks as a precautionery measure. One company even indicated they were removing all backlinks and starting from scratch!

Under these cirumstances, there seems little point in continuing with the directories.
